Purpose: This program offers a sequence of courses that provides coherent and rigorous content aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant technical knowledge and skills needed to prepare for a Class “A” Commercial Driver License. The content includes but is not limited to the following: Loading and unloading cargo; reporting delays or accidents on the road; verifying load against shipping papers; and keeping records. Description: The CVD program is a 320 hour program that prepares students for entry into the trucking and logistics industry. Students explore career opportunities and requirements of a professional tractor trailer driver. Students study vehicle safety, accident prevention, operating regulations, cargo handling, documentation procedures, pre-trip preparation, vehicle inspection, maintenance, service, control procedures, backing, coupling, uncoupling, maneuvering, road and hazardous driving skills, and licensing requirements.
